God's Laws
Adultery/Rape
Leviticus 20
10 " 'If a man commits adultery with another man's wife-with
the wife of his neighbor-both the adulterer and the adulteress
must be put to death.
11 " 'If a man sleeps with his father's wife, he has dishonored
his father. Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their
blood will be on their own heads.
12 " 'If a man sleeps with his daughter-in-law, both of them
must be put to death. What they have done is a perversion; their
blood will be on their own heads.
13 " 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman,
both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to
death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Deuteronomy 22
23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married
and he sleeps with her,
24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone
them to death-the girl because she was in a town and did not scream
for help, and the man because he violated another man's wife.
You must purge the evil from among you.
Rebellious Children
Leviticus 20
9 " 'If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put
to death. He has cursed his father or his mother, and his blood
will be on his own head.
Exodus 21
17 "Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to
death.
Deuteronomy 21
18 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey
his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline
him,
19 his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him
to the elders at the gate of his town.
20 They shall say to the elders, "This son of ours is stubborn
and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a
drunkard."
21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You
must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it
and be afraid.
Blasphemy
Leviticus 24
15 Say to the Israelites: 'If anyone curses his God, he will be
held responsible;
16 anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death.
The entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born,
when he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death.
Exodus 22
20 "Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the Lord must
be destroyed.
Deuteronomy 13
12 If you hear it said about one of the towns the Lord your God
is giving you to live in
13 that wicked men have arisen among you and have led the people
of their town astray, saying, "Let us go and worship other
gods" (gods you have not known),
14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly.
And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable
thing has been done among you,
15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town.
Destroy it completely, both its people and its livestock.
16 Gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public
square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole
burnt offering to the Lord your God. It is to remain a ruin forever,
never to be rebuilt.
Deuteronomy 17
2 If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the Lord
gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God
in violation of his covenant,
3 and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing
down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars of the sky,
4 and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate
it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this
detestable thing has been done in Israel,
5 take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city
gate and stone that person to death.
6 On the testimony of two or three witnesses a man shall be put
to death, but no one shall be put to death on the testimony of
only one witness.
7 The hands of the witnesses must be the first in putting him
to death, and then the hands of all the people. You must purge
the evil from among you.
Mediums, Spirits, Sorceresses, and Witches
Leviticus 20
27 " 'A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you
must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will
be on their own heads.' "
Exodus 22
18 "Do not allow a sorceress to live.
Servants
Exodus 21
2 "If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six
years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying
anything.
3 If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife
when he comes, she is to go with him.
4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters,
the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only
the man shall go free.
5 "But if the servant declares, 'I love my master and my
wife and children and do not want to go free,'
6 then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take
him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl.
Then he will be his servant for life.
7 "If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to
go free as menservants do.
8 If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself,
he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners,
because he has broken faith with her.
9 If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights
of a daughter.
10 If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first
one of her food, clothing and marital rights.
11 If he does not provide her with these three things, she is
to go free, without any payment of money.
20 "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and
the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished,
21 but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day
or two, since the slave is his property.
22 "If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she
gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender
must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court
allows.
23 But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life,
24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.
26 "If a man hits a manservant or maidservant in the eye
and destroys it, he must let the servant go free to compensate
for the eye.
27 And if he knocks out the tooth of a manservant or maidservant,
he must let the servant go free to compensate for the tooth.
Tithing

vats. "You must give me the firstborn of your sons.
Execution of Animals

15 " 'If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he must
be put to death, and you must kill the animal.
16 " 'If a woman approaches an animal to have sexual relations
with it, kill both the woman and the animal. They must be put
to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Exodus 21
28 "If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull must
be stoned to death, and its meat must not be eaten. But the owner
of the bull will not be held responsible.
Mandatory Celebrations
Exodus 23
The Three Annual Festivals
14 "Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.
15 "Celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days
eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the
appointed time in the month of Abib, for in that month you came
out of Egypt.
"No one is to appear before me empty-handed.
16 "Celebrate the Feast of Harvest with the firstfruits of
the crops you sow in your field.
"Celebrate the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year,
when you gather in your crops from the field.
17 "Three times a year all the men are to appear before the
Sovereign LORD .
18 "Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with
anything containing yeast.
"The fat of my festival offerings must not be kept until morning.
19 "Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house
of the LORD your God.
"Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk.
Eye for an Eye
Leviticus 24
19 If anyone injures his neighbor, whatever he has done must be
done to him:
20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As he has
injured the other, so he is to be injured.
Punishment for the Sins of the Father
Numbers 14
'The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin
and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes
the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth
generation.'
